Probate season has come and gone and now the reality of Greek life is setting in for some of you. We’re getting several questions about being charged up and in general not feeling welcome.

Well, first I want you to know that you are welcome in our orgs. We are happy to have you and excited for all the work you will do. But, you will have to work. You thought we were kidding when we told you that crossing was the easy part.

You have just made a lifelong commitment to your org and to your brothers and sisters. Some will not be friendly. It’s sad but it’s true. You are a neo, your job is to get to know them. Remember that deference thing we talked about? I’ve had to swallow my pride and shut my mouth more than a couple of times. Do not compromise your morals but recognize that you are the baby of the family. That means you will have to do some grunt work but you will also learn a lot.

When in doubt, be quiet and call your dean. You can also come to us. We’re here for you. The work has now begun.
